Abstract

On bases of an analytical review of problems related to the production of biofuel the most feasible ways of further development of this business has been outlined. Socio-economic and agronomic aspects of the biofuel production have been analysed. Alternative cultivars were grouped according to their suitability for production of bioethanol, biodiesel, or biogas. Engagement of the local population in green biomass production and processing it for biofuel may help India to solve its food, energy, environment and social problems.
